  • Date: Saturday, April 29, 2023
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Camp opens at 8:00 a.m. when breakfast snacks will be available. The workshop starts promptly at 9:00 a.m.)
  • Cost: $30, includes registration fee for 1 adult and 1 girl, snacks, a Timbercrest Tidbit segment patch, and all educational materials and equipment.
  • Registration: Registration is for one female adult AND one girl (minimum 12 years old). No exceptions.
  • Maximum Enrollment: 9 girls and 9 adults

In this course for girls and their female adult companions you will each earn your NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Hunter Education Card. This card will allow you to purchase a NYS hunting  license.

The course will be taught by NYSDEC certified hunter safety educators and is co-sponsored with the Becoming An Outdoor Woman program and New York Outdoor Women, Inc. This is an all woman course by and for girls and women.

Homework and Permission Slips
  • There is a required homework component that must be completed prior to coming to the course and proof of completion must be brought to the course. Go to https://www.hunter-ed.com/newyork/manual/ to download the manual and homework worksheet or call 1-888-486-8332 to request a hard copy. See below for the Course Topics.
  • Students under 16 years old must have a signed permission slip from a parent or legal guardian to allow for the handling and shooting of a firearm during this course. Click here to download the form, or call 1-888-486-8332 to request a hard copy.

Course Logistics
  • Camp will be open for check-in at 8:00 a.m. with breakfast snacks and hot beverages available.
  • The program will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.
  • ​Snacks are included in the fee along with all educational materials and equipment which are being provided through the NYSDEC Hunter Education Program. Do not bring your own firearms.
  • ​Please bring your own lunch and beverage.
  • Please dress for the weather.

  • Knowledge of firearms and ammunition
  • Proper gun handling and storage
  • Marksmanship fundamentals
  • Hunting laws and regulations
  • Principles of wildlife management and wildlife identification
  • Outdoor safety
  • Hunter ethics
  • Hunter responsibility toward wildlife, the environment, landowners, and the general public

​Minimum of 7 hours.
