Spring 2026 Work Weekend

Friday-Sunday, April 24-26, 2026
Even though we don't have to have your registration until Friday, April 17th, there is a planning meeting on Monday, February 23
at 4:30 p.m. and it would be helpful to know sooner rather than later if you are coming and what your skill set includes, so that we can plan projects. . Also, let us know if you would like to attend that meeting via Zoom by emailing [email protected].

Here's the link to register for the work weekend!

Project: Recruit!

GSWNY is planning to offer a limited program of overnight camping at Timbercrest in Summer 2026. But it will only run if a minimum number of girls register early through the Winter and Spring.
  • Notes from Dec 15 Meeting.
  • Summer 2026 Catalog.

How can Friends of Timbercrest incentivize girls to sign up for camp at Timbercrest? And, specifically, to sign up early?

During a pleasant conversation in early November with Jerilyn Hickey I learned about council's efforts to bolster registrations.
  • With regard to discounts, council offers an early bird discount of $25 for anyone who registers by February 15. In addition, there is a “more the merrier discount.” It is $10 off the second session for the first camper or $10 off a sibling’s registration.
  • With regard to marketing, Jerilyn gave me an overview of the extensive marketing strategies GSWNY will be employing to advertise camp - both to current Girl Scouts, and to non-members (who might just become members after a rewarding week at Timbercrest!): TV, print, radio, flyers to schools, libraries, and other locations, Google and Facebook ads targeted at families with female children (whether currently Girl Scouts or not), and more.

We agreed that the best way Friends of Timbercrest can help is to donate to the campership fund and to spread the word about camp to girls and parents.
  • If you donate online, select "Camperships" from the dropdown menu, and type "Timbercrest only" in the box labeled "Any additional information you'd like to share about your designation."
  • If you prefer to write a check, make it out to GSWNY and mail it to Girl Scouts of Western New York, Buffalo Service Center, 4433 Genesee St., Suite 101, Buffalo, NY 14225. Be sure to note it is for Timbercrest camperships.
  • And spread the word!! Talk to parents about the value of a camp experience. Talk to the girls about some of your fondest memories at camp. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to make a connection.  Can you spot Goose in this picture? She met with a Dunkirk Brownie troop to talk about her Girl Scout experiences - then as a girl, and now as a Friend of Timbercrest.

Future Work Weekends

At least once per year, the Friends of Timbercrest gather at camp to clear and maintain trails, chop and split wood, paint what needs to be painted, and do various other projects which are mutually decided upon by FOT and GSWNY. The previous sentence used to say "Twice a year..."

Beginning in Spring of 2025, one of the Council's strategies to achieve their financial goals is to increase rentals on camp properties. Fall is a popular time for camp use and so, our Fall 2025 Work weekend was cancelled to allow for a rental.

CANCELLED: Fall 2025 Work Weekend - Timbercrest

Spring 2026 Work Weekend - Timbercrest

Timbercrest Tidbits

Picture
FOT works in partnership with GSWNY to plan, schedule and run "Timbercrest Tidbits" - tasty little bites of camp. It is our hope that girls will have positive experiences at Timbercrest and be inspired to come back with their troops for troop camping, as well as on their own to summer camp.

Registration for Timbercrest Tidbits is through GSWNY. Fees are kept low thanks to generous donations from our Friends. The registration fee stays with GSWNY and FOT covers any costs of the program, including the tidbit segment patch. The round Camp Timbercrest patch is available for purchase at each program for $2.

Check the council Events Calendar. Look for "Timbercrest Tidbits."
